The city of Marlborough DPW is accepting applications for a full-time Forestry Foreman – Forestry, Parks and Cemetery Division. This is a union position offering competitive wages, comprehensive municipal benefits (including health and dental insurance, paid time off, holidays, pension, and union benefits), and a stable municipal career overseeing forestry operations that support public safety and the maintenance of city-owned trees and municipal grounds.
Hiring Rate: $37.79/hr.
Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating daily forestry operations, including tree maintenance, removals, pruning, storm response, and right-of-way clearing. This position serves as a working foreman, providing direct oversight of forestry crews, assigning work, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and coordinating with other DPW divisions and city departments. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of arboriculture practices, and the ability to respond to emergencies and citizen service requests in a timely and professional manner.
The Forestry Foreman is expected to ensure that work is performed efficiently and safely in accordance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and city policies. Responsibilities include equipment and vehicle oversight, documentation, planning and scheduling, and assisting with training and performance monitoring of assigned personnel. Experience in municipal forestry operations, crew supervision, tree care practices, and forestry equipment use is preferred.
