Job Description

This is a full-time, benefitted, union position. In the future, this position could be shared between the town of Acushnet and a neighboring municipality, as part of an Inter-Municipal Agreement. This position will be responsible for programs related to health inspections, Title V inspections, soil evaluation/percolation tests, certain quality of life complaints, agricultural animal inspections, wells and septic systems inspections, and public health issues in accordance with community and industry standards and goals as established by the respective Boards of Health and Boards of Selectmen.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: professional, technical, and administrative support to the Boards of Health; administration of the respective town’s bylaws, health rules and regulations, evaluation of plans, preparation of proposed amendments to town bylaws, and specific plans, grants, and projects. Night meetings required.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of experience in public health, engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office/GIS.

Preferred Qualifications Registered sanitarian, or related discipline. Certified Soil Evaluator, certified Title V Inspector, Certified Food Service Inspector within one year of appointment. CORI check, pre-employment physical and drug testing required.

Starting Salary: $70,000- $80,000
