Job Description

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a dependable, motivated Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) to join our Department of Public Works Highway-Division.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $22.71 – $29.69 per hour, depending on qualifications and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Full-range for this position is $22.71 – $36.54 per hour

Competitive Leave & Benefits package

Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Overtime required. Responds to emergencies during and after normal business-hours.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and taking pride in maintaining roads, grounds, cemeteries, and public spaces that serve our community. The HEO operates a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, front-end loaders, street sweepers, sanders, plows, trucks, and other equipment used in public works operations.  Cemetery, funeral, burial, gravesite experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three to five years of experience operating equipment and trucks in construction and maintenance work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience safely operating heavy equipment and power-driven tools.
• Valid U.S. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B.
• Hoisting Engineer License, Class 2B or greater
• Cemetery, funeral, burial, gravesite experience is highly desirable.
