The city of Melrose department of Public Works is seeking a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator to join the Parks and Forestry division. They will perform skilled and semi-skilled work related to the care, maintenance, and removal of trees, shrubs, and landscaping throughout the city.
Responsibilities include operating trucks, chippers, lifts, cranes, power saws, and other equipment; trimming and removing trees; planting and maintaining landscaping; and assisting with other Public Works operations. The position also supports seasonal work such as storm response, snow and ice events, and special city projects.
Requires a valid CDL and a Public Safety Hoisting License, along with experience in tree work or related field operations, and the ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (40 hours/week), $26.50–$33.85/hour, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits: pension, health insurance, paid time off, overtime opportunities. Full job description available on: www.cityofmelrose.org/jobs.aspx
