Job Description

The town of West Newbury seeks qualified candidates to serve as Interim Town Manager during an important leadership transition. West Newbury is a residential community of approximately 4,500 residents operating under an Open Town Meeting form of government with a Select Board and Town Manager structure.

The Interim Town Manager will provide executive leadership and oversee day-to-day municipal operations, including budget and financial management, personnel administration, labor relations, policy implementation, and coordination with town boards, committees, and department heads. The successful candidate will provide steady, collaborative leadership while supporting continuity of operations and assisting the Select Board during the transition period.

Candidates should possess significant municipal management experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and demonstrated experience working effectively in Massachusetts local government environments. Prior town manager, assistant town manager, or senior municipal leadership experience strongly preferred.

The position is expected to require approximately three to four days per week onsite, with some flexibility based upon town needs and candidate availability.

Compensation negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience.
