The city of Melrose seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Local Building Inspector to protect public safety through effective code enforcement. This role reviews permit applications, construction plans, and specifications; performs on-site inspections; investigates zoning and building code complaints; and documents violations and inspection results.
This is a benefit-eligible, part-time position (28 hours/week), scheduled Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The inspector also participates in 24-hour on-call coverage and may perform off-hours inspections during emergencies.
Ideal candidates have an associate degree from a technical school and five to seven years of building-industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A Massachusetts Construction Supervisors’ License, Massachusetts State Certification as a Local Building Inspector, and a valid driver’s license are required.
Compensation is $40.40-$44.60/hr with full benefits (28 hrs/week). Letter of interest and resume to [email protected] by Aug. 31. EOE.
