The town of Bedford is seeking applicants for a Local Building Inspector in the Building department. The Local Building Inspector is responsible for performing inspections of constructions sites and buildings, review and approve building plans and permit applications to ensure compliance, investigate and respond to complaints regarding code compliance and illegal/defective repairs and construction, responds to emergency calls when needed, responds to questions from the public and other outside agencies regarding building codes and development projects, and any other related duties as assigned.
Candidates for this position must possess a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, plus at least one year of experience. Any combination of relevant education, training, certification and experience will be considered.
Must be certified as a Building Code Enforcement Official and possess a valid driver’s license. Must have knowledge of Massachusetts Building Code and various municipal bylaws as they relate to the building environment, as well as fire codes.
There is a part-time and full-time opportunity available. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $43.69/hour – $45.00/hour, depending on qualifications.
