JOB OPENING – TOWN OF SANDWICH
LOCAL INSPECTOR OF BUILDINGS
The town of Sandwich has an opening for a 40 hour per week Local Inspector of Buildings. Position reports to the Building Commissioner with primary duties of this position consisting of providing in-office plan review and guidance to residents, builders, architects, etc. with a wide variety in the scope and complexity of various permitting matters.
Position will also conduct inspections of residential and commercial construction, and provide enforcement and interpretation of State Building Code, local zoning by-laws and other applicable regulations. Also, collaboratively works with other town departments and staff on a wide variety of issues and provides professional assistance to various town boards and committees as directed. May attend evening meetings as directed.
Must have a Local Inspector certification within 12 months of hire. Must meet the BOCC minimum requirements and receive approval to take the required exams. Existing certification preferred, but not required. Must enforce regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially. Excellent computer and communication skills are essential. Starting Salary Range: $75,000-$78,000 with excellent benefits. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, existing certification and experience.
