The town of Marshfield Select Board invites candidates to learn about the opportunity to be the next Town Administrator, who serves as the day-to-day leader of the municipality. We are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking Town Administrator to lead our municipal operations and help us navigate a new era of fiscal planning and community development.

Maintaining confidence with the Select Board, community, and staff is essential to Marshfield’s vitality and effective administration. Experience with designing and executing effective public outreach and engagement campaigns that build buy-in, trust, and a sense of community and collaboration in the local civic space will be critical

The Town Administrator’s responsibilities, as outlined in the Town Charter, include:

  • Oversight and management of the daily operations of town government and implement Select Board policies.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, including all detail of revenues, expenditure, enterprise accounts, debt services, and capital expenditures to ensure alignment with long term financial forecasts.
  • Engage with residents, businesses and regional partners to foster transparency and trust.
  • Execution of Select Board decisions and implementation of Select Board goals and priorities
  • Oversees and manages procurement activities in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30B, Chapter 149, Chapter 30 §39m, Chapter 7C, §44-58, and other applicable regulations.

In accordance to the Town Charter and Personnel By-law, The Town Administrator shall possess not less than a bachelor’ s degree and a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience. A master’s degree is preferred as is managerial experience in a municipal or public position with similar responsibility and complexity. Applicant must have strong financial acumen, MCPPO certified within one year and ability to manage complex budgets.

The town will negotiate a comprehensive employment contract, including standard and voluntary benefits offered by the Town. The position is full-time and requires in-person presence on-site. Starting salary range is anticipated to be up to $225,000 DOQ
