Title: Motor Equipment Operator/Laborer I – CDL

FLSA Non-Exempt, Union, 40 hours per week 7:00am-3:30pm
FY26, Grade PW4 $25.87 – $27.44 per hour for steps 1-3 (salary range exceeds hiring range)

Parks and Highways

  • Perform skilled manual work of a difficult and responsible nature in the operation of public works equipment of substantial weight and complexity; all other related work as required.
  • Assist with street maintenance and repair using hand tools and heavy equipment (plows, rollers, skid steers, dump trucks, etc.)
  • Support construction/repair of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and related infrastructure
  • Perform seasonal work: snow removal, sanding/salting, mowing, brush cutting, leaf and yard waste collection
  • Apply pavement markings and repairs curbing, guardrails, and signage
  • Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on equipment
  • Follow safety protocols and monitor work zones
  • Assist other departments and respond to emergencies as needed

Requirements: *

  • High school graduate; qualifying experience in the operation of heavy and special equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid C.D.L.
  • Participation in the town’s mandated drug and alcohol random testing program.
  • Ability to work shift hours and be reliable.
