Job Description

The Town of Wellesley’s Recycling and Disposal Facility (RDF) is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Permit Verifier/Trash Collector. Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, RDF, this position issues RDF permits and waivers to eligible parties. The incumbent operates diesel and gas powered equipment including forklifts, small bucket loaders, and small trucks. The incumbent collects solid waste and recyclables from the DPW/MLP complex and an established route throughout the Town’s business districts. The incumbent collects recyclable materials from Town buildings, including schools, and transports them to the RDF for recycling. The incumbent participates in efforts to maximize Town revenues by removing recyclables from the waste system while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Minimum requirements: High School diploma or equivalent; valid MA Class D driver’s license; MA Hoisting Engineer’s License, Classes 1C and 2C; ability to deal effectively with the public; maintain accurate records; and lift and/or move 100 pounds. The incumbent is required to participate in the Town’s snow and ice control program and be available for stand-by, emergency and weekend duties as needed.

The hourly rate of pay is $21.24 – 28.53, depending on qualifications and an excellent benefits package (health and dental insurance, vacation and sick time, retirement plan, etc.).
