Wellesley’s Facilities Management Department (FMD) maintains and operates (28) town buildings totaling over 1.2 million square feet, has a staff of 73, and an operating budget of $8.2 million. The FMD seeks to add a Plumber onto our maintenance staff of seven licensed trades’ persons. FMD provides outstanding support for our maintenance staff in the form of regular professional development opportunities, tools/equipment and other resources needed to succeed in a supportive/collaborative working environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Plumber’s primary responsibility is the maintenance of all plumbing systems and gas-fired equipment. The incumbent performs a full range of plumbing duties to include the installation, renovation, repair and preventive maintenance in support of the overall maintenance of municipal and school buildings. Work is performed in compliance with Massachusetts Plumbing code and is checked in progress or upon completion to ensure it complies with accepted standards and codes.
The incumbent performs assigned tasks without close supervision, following established procedures, and is given direct and detailed instructions on new and different assignments. The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the trade and be knowledgeable in the use of all trade tools and instruments. The work schedule requires some early morning, night, weekend, stand by and emergency work.
Requires: high school diploma or equivalent; five years’ experience working as a professional plumber in a commercial or industrial setting; a valid driver’s license, and a valid Massachusetts Plumbers & Gasfitters Journeyman License. Familiarity with School Dude work order system preferred.
Salary Range (as of July 1, 2019): up to $77,043, plus overtime as available.
