Job Description

The town of Lunenburg is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Principal Assessor.

The successful candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of property appraisal principles and practices, as well as extensive knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws related to assessment and taxation and professionally accepted assessment practices. This position requires a high level of organization, discretion, and independence.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree with courses in business, finance and property assessment required; three to five years’ experience in assessing field, including experience in the valuation of property for tax purposes in accordance with modern assessment principles. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Requirements
DOR Course 101 including Classification Training Workshop completion. Current Massachusetts Accredited Assessor designation is preferred or must be achieved within two years of date of hire. Familiarity with CAMA systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and MUNIS or similar municipal accounting software. Valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle license.
