In the coming year, the city of Watertown is growing its planning team in the Department of Community Development and Planning. The team includes Planners working on current planning programs, transportation, housing, environmental protection, and arts/culture.

As a part of this team, the city of Watertown is seeking a Senior Planner for Economic Development focused on implementing the city’s economic development strategies, attracting, and retaining small businesses, and strengthening Watertown’s retail corridors and emerging industry clusters. This individual will be focusing on cultivating a culture that provides opportunities for all commercial business to thrive in the ity of Watertown. Required qualifications: bachelor’s degree in planning or related subject; master’s degree preferred; four to six years of economic development or planning experience; AICP desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary and benefits: the hiring range is $69,384 to $82,850.47 annually, plus an excellent benefit package, which includes pension, deferred compensation, health insurance 80% city-paid premium, paid vacation, sick, personal, and holidays; flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and more.

Effective July 1, the Step 1 salary for this position increases to $87,528.
