The city of Watertown, a thriving community in Greater Boston’s inner core, is seeking to fill a key role in our Department of Community Development and Planning.

The city is seeking a qualified individual passionate about designing great parks, playgrounds, and recreation areas to serve as our Senior Planner for Open Space.

This position is responsible for the collaborations with community members, our DPW Department and Recreation Department, and construction contractors for the design and development of the many open spaces in our city’s capital plan.

Required qualifications: bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, planning or related field; master’s degree preferred; four to six years of planning and/or design experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Salary and benefits: the hiring range is $69,384 to $82,850.47 annually, plus an excellent benefit package, which includes pension, deferred compensation, health insurance 80% city-paid premium, paid vacation, sick, personal, and holidays; flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and more.

Effective July 1, the Step 1 salary for this position increases to $87,528.
