Sewer Craftsman/CDL

Department of Public Works, Norwood

FLSA Non-Exempt, Union, 40 hours per week 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Salary: FY26 Grade PW6 $29.0306 – $30.7759 per hour for steps 1-3 (salary range exceeds hiring range)

The purpose of this position is to perform skilled equipment operation and manual labor in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the town’s sewer system.

• Participates in the construction and maintenance to the sewer system; excavates trenches and backfills excavations; repairs sewer lines.
• Regularly works in confined spaces and is performed in all weather conditions with exposure to hazards associated with chemicals, trenches, construction sites, extreme weather conditions and equipment operation.
• Would be required to work snow removal
• Responds to emergencies; determines appropriate corrective action; makes repairs.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and facilities related to sewer system operation.
• Performs similar or related work as required.

Minimum Requirements: *

• High school graduation; three years of public works construction and maintenance experience including heavy equipment operation experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid CDL, Hydraulic License desired. Tanker Endorsement CDL Preferred.
