The Littleton Water department is hiring a summer laborer to assist licensed water and wastewater operators with the routine operation and maintenance of water/sewer system infrastructure. Depending on the applicant’s abilities and interests, this may include assisting with the maintenance and operation of specialized equipment (after receiving training), as well as independently conducting non-specialized maintenance activities. Potential duties include painting of fire hydrants, water quality sampling and laboratory analysis, assisting with the maintenance and repair of water/wastewater treatment equipment and instrumentation, assisting with water service repairs, and GIS mapping of infrastructure.
The position requires a valid Class D Massachusetts Driver’s license, the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, and a genuine interest in learning about water and sewer utility operations. The position is for 40 hours per week, 6:30 – 4:30, Monday through Thursday. Dates of employment are flexible but anticipated to be up to 13 weeks between early June and late August/early September. Pay rate is $22 per hour.
