The town of Whately is seeking a Town Accountant to oversee the financial transactions of the town. his position performs professional accounting work related to the financial transactions of the town. The Accountant audits bills, determines the legality of expenses, prepares vendor and payroll warrants, posts to the general ledger, prepares monthly reports of revenues and expenditures, aids in budget administration, trial balances, and prepares related reports and end of the year balance sheet.
This is a part-time role of 15 hrs/wk with plans to move to 24 hrs/wk (with benefits) starting July 1. The work is primarily done onsite at the Town Offices (4 Sandy Lane) with option for some hybrid work. Although this is a department of one, the Town Accountant works closely with the Town Administrator, Treasurer-Collector, and Assistant Assessor.
