Description:
The Water and Sewer Superintendent performs administrative, supervisory, and technical work directing the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the municipal water supply, treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection systems. The position is responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, reliable drinking water and the proper collection and conveyance of wastewater in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The Superintendent exercises significant independent judgment in planning, regulatory compliance, personnel management, and coordination with governmental agencies, contractors, and the general public.
Salary: $103,600-$146,384

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, business administration or a related field; five years of experience in water and/ or wastewater systems operation and maintenance, two years of which involve supervisory responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Massachusetts State Drinking Water Licenses for Treatment (Grade 3 2 FULL) and Distribution (Grade 3 FULL); MassDEP Backflow Prevention Device Tester certification; and a valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Must establish residency within a 15 mile radius of the town of Orleans within one year of appointment.
