On Oct. 22, the MMA will host a webinar with Savi, a social impact technology organization dedicated to assisting public employees with their student loan debt.
More than 9 million public service workers, including full-time municipal employees, are eligible for student loan forgiveness through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, according to Savi, but less than 3% have received relief. Many employees don’t realize they qualify, and even fewer know how to maximize their options.
To help cities and towns support their workforce, the MMA is partnering with Savi, a leading student loan benefits provider.
The MMA webinar will feature Tony Raffa, Savi’s director of business development strategy, who will review current student debt relief programs and how Savi can help with its three levels of service, including one at no cost.
Raffa will also provide an overview of recent changes by the U.S. Department of Education, the implications of recent executive orders for public employees, and common roadblocks to student debt relief.
Online registration is available for the 75-minute webinar, which will begin at noon. Only MMA members may register. MMA members include elected officials and municipal employees from MMA member communities across the state. Media members are not permitted to attend.
