MMHR fall conference to focus on employee benefits

Employee benefits will be the focus of the Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources’ annual fall conference on Sept. 17 and 18 in Falmouth.

The conference will open with a keynote workshop about mental and emotional health led by Alicia Davis, partner at Transformative Leadership Strategies, who brings 30-plus years of experience with well-being and leadership development. Attendees will gain practical strategies for supporting their own well-being and will learn how to cultivate resilience, manage stress effectively, and create a healthier, more sustainable approach to leadership.

Thursday afternoon will include a session on retirement accounts led by representatives from Empower along with Littleton Human Resources Director Michelle Vibert. The session will cover strategies for improving employee retirement readiness, compliance and risk mitigation, updates to SECURE 2.0, and Roth and 457B accounts.

The final Thursday workshop, led by Springfield Benefits Manager Cameo Restrepo and Springfield Assistant HR Director and Benefits Administrator Caitlyn Julius, will explore the essentials of benefits auditing.

Thursday will conclude a networking reception.

The conference will resume on Friday with a networking breakfast at 8 a.m.

The morning will feature a session on strategies for Medicare and healthcare planning led by Shrewsbury Benefits Coordinator Nick Hawes, followed by a panel discussion on employee wellness initiatives.

The conference will conclude with a session on employee open enrollment led by representatives from the Employers Association of the NorthEast.

The agenda will also feature networking activities and a legislative update by MMA Legislative Director Dave Koffman.

Registration and a networking breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m on Thursday.

The conference will be held at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel. The registration fee is $400 for the full conference, or $250 for Thursday only.
