MunEnergy members who renew a contract or sign a new one with Constellation have two new products available through the MMA’s energy program.

The Green REC Incentive Program (GRIP) was added to the MMA member-community contract in January 2018 in recognition of the 20-year anniversary of the relationship between the MMA and Constellation. The program is available to any municipality that signs a new or renewed supply contract for at least 12 months, limited to town or city hall accounts. Constellation and the MMA will cover the cost to purchase renewable energy credits equal to the power used by the city or town hall accounts for the length of the contract. This allows participating municipalities to support their sustainability goals and the renewable energy market.

Also available to MunEnergy members is Efficiency Made Easy, which helps members make energy efficiency upgrades, such as LED streetlights or building improvements, through their supply contract. The efficiency equipment costs will be included as a line item on the energy supply bill with Constellation, allowing customers to make upgrades without upfront capital costs. Participating municipalities are able to make energy and safety upgrades at a reasonable and manageable cost over time.

Over 20 years, the MunEnergy program has served more than 120 Massachusetts cities, towns and governmental entities by helping them understand their options in a complex energy market. These two programs are added benefits available through the MMA’s MunEnergy contract with Constellation.
