The town of Rutland department of Public Works is accepting applications for a full-time Water Operator II.

The town of Rutland provides drinking water to over 1,600 accounts, mostly residential. The town has a reservoir, pumping station, treatment facility, storage tanks and over 30 miles of water main. The Water Operator II is involved in all aspects of the Water Division operations from supply to distribution.

This is a non-exempt position, with a starting pay range between $24.35 and $30.37, with the actual starting rate dependent on license levels held and practical job experience and education.

Applicants must have, as a minimum, at least two years of experience and a working knowledge of water treatment plant operations and related activities, and must possess a full 2-T water treatment license and a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Grade 3-T license and 2-D water distribution license within one year of hire. Needs to be available for overtime, weekends, nights, holidays, and shift work under varying conditions, including snow and ice operations, as required.

Applicants are to provide a copy of their Licenses with their application. Applicants may be required to submit to a physical, drug screen, and C.O.R.I. check, as determined by the DPW Director.
