Water Meter Repairman – DPW

Job Description

Duties: Under the direction of the Public Works Director, Superintendent of Water, and their designee, performs skilled manual work in the repair, testing and maintenance of water meters for accurate operation and registration; disassembles, cleans, adjusts, repairs, and overhauls all sizes and types of water meters both on-site and in-shop; reads water meters; makes adjustments to correct inaccuracies. Responsible for maintaining meter shop area and repair parts inventory and requesting any items needed and to perform related work as required. Responsible for installing and removing seasonal backflow devices for municipal fields and playgrounds. Applicants will be required to work directly with customers.

Requirements: 

• Must have a high school diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license.
• Must have a Grade D I license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities or the ability to obtain in one year.
• Substitutions for requirements will be at the discretion of the Director of Public Works.
• Must be able to respond to all emergencies.

Salary: $60,524.36 – $73,337.68 annually
