Public Safety Dispatcher

Job Description

The town of Reading is accepting applications for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher in the Police department.

This position is responsible for providing aid and support to the Officers, Firefighters, EMTs and Paramedics, to both outside agencies and within the departments to ensure messages are accurate, clear, concise and timely.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school graduate or graduate equivalent.
2. Ability to obtain and maintain State and local certifications in Emergency Dispatch upon hire.

Expected Hiring Rate 

$27.24 – $28.06 per hour
(+6% differential for night shifts)

Work Hours

This is a full-time position with typical 40 hours per week with a rotation of four days on, four days off. Hours may vary based on staffing and department needs. Candidate must have availability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is located in a Police department with 24 hours, seven days staffing needs.
