The town of Carver (population 11,645), seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of Assessing. Reporting to the Finance Director, this position plans and directs the functions of the Assessor’s office, inspecting and valuing real and personal property. Responsibilities also include Operation of the town-wide property appraisal system, maintain accurate and up to date records, prepare reports for the department of Revenue, perform responsible duties requiring independent judgement and initiative in the administration of the Assessor’s Office within the policies of the department of Revenue and in compliance with MA General Laws. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, five years of responsible experience in real estate and personal property appraisal and municipal assessing procedures or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires working knowledge of municipal laws, department of Revenue regulations, applicable state and federal laws, and municipal software knowledge required (Soft Right preferred).
