PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

The town of Harvard is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Director.

Performing a variety of complex and highly responsible duties requiring the exercise of considerable judgment in supervising the operation of various public works operations. Responsible for long term management and care of assets and resources under Public Works Director control. The Public Works Director supervises approximately one dozen full-time employees throughout the year and makes frequent contact with all town departments, local officials, relevant state officials and bureaus, and vendors.

Preferred candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in management and at least seven years of public works experience in a progressively responsible capacity, including three years of management responsibility; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of public works functions, possess, and maintain a CDL Class B as well as the necessary Massachusetts certifications to operate a drinking water supply facility. Candidates should have the ability to meet and deal with people appropriately and effectively, must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and have the ability to lead and supervise staff.

Competitive salary range of up to $124,340 annually commensurate with experience.
