The Town of Falmouth seeks a detail-oriented, highly motivated professional to join our Assessing team as a full-time Property Data Collector. This vital role collects property data that supports the Town’s ability to accurately and equitably assess property values, ensuring accurate and fair property tax assessments and helping fund essential municipal services. This is a full-time, benefited position that works at the Falmouth Town Hall and in the field 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of college-level mathematics and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience with data entry and retrieval and customer service in a professional office setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and successfully complete required training towards certification in Massachusetts appraisal techniques within two (2) years of hire. Working knowledge of building construction design, the real estate market, and/or municipal experience preferred.
The successful candidate has meticulous attention to detail, strong mathematical and analytical skills, strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve potential discrepancies tactfully and appropriately. The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and is also a collaborative member of the Assessing Office and the larger Finance team.
Expected Starting Range: Step 1 ($30.40/hour) – Step 3 ($32.88/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to grow along the 7-step pay scale.
