The town of Lunenburg seeks qualified applicants for the Land Use Director position.
Under the general direction of the Town Manager, this position serves as the Town Planner and Director of Economic Development and plays a central role in shaping land use policy, guiding development, expanding the commercial tax base, and preserving the community’s rural character and historic charm.
The Director supports the Planning Board and assists in coordinating the activities of all other boards and departments involved in regulating land use and land development in town. The position also coordinates with Sewer Commission and DPW. Attends evening meetings as needed (typically four/month).
Bachelor’s degree in community or regional planning, with a specialization in land use, environmental planning, public administration, or economic development, plus seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning and/or economic development department, or any other equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preference given to candidates with a master’s degree in community or regional planning or related field and/or American Institute of Certified Planners certification. Stormwater/environmental planning credentials a plus.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), benefited position. Pay range: $48.79/hr – $60.02/hr. Employment agreement possible.
