DIRECTOR OF VETERANS SERVICES OFFICER (VSO)
The Northeast Quabbin Veterans’ Service District compromises the five towns of Athol, Orange, Petersham, Phillipston and Royalston and is seeking a full time Director/VSO, who is responsible for delivering state/federal programs and services to veterans residing in this North Central Massachusetts district
A successful candidate will present a strong management background and be able to perform complex duties requiring high degree of sound judgment while often working independently and enforcing privacy and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of various federal, state and local veterans programs and services is essential.
The VSO must be a veteran, discharged under honorable conditions. A BS/BA is required. The ability to work in a multifaceted environment that includes human relations, social work, administration, operations, is essential. Previous VSO experience is preferred, but not required. A valid driver’s license and own transportation are required.
The skills of leadership, communication, counseling, time management, conflict management, budgeting, analysis, problem identification/solving and exceptional computer literacy are required.
34 hours/week, Mon-Thurs, starting Oct. 27, salary starting at $50,000 plus benefits.
