FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK)

HIRING PAY RANGE: $101,522.72 TO $112,062.08 PER YEAR

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Wastewater Treatment Superintendent is responsible for the management, supervision, and operation of the town’s wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure. This includes ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing treatment process, managing staff, and maintaining plant equipment and performance. The Superintendent plays a crucial role in protecting public health and the environment by ensuring the effective treatment and disposal of wastewater.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and maintenance practices.
• In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and permit compliance requirements.
• Excellent supervisory, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, write reports, and interface effectively with regulatory agencies and the public.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• High School Diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater treatment operations, including supervisory experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid Massachusetts Driver’s license; CDL preferred
• Massachusetts Grade 6 Wastewater Treatment Operator License required
