The Massachusetts Municipal Human Resources association held its annual meeting on June 4 in Boylston.
The meeting opened with MMHR Chair Jen Breaker highlighting some of the association’s new initiatives, such as MMHR regional groups and the Pathways Program.
Members then voted to approve the organization’s fiscal 2027 budget, amended the MMHR bylaws, and elected the slate of Board officers and directors for fiscal 2027.
MMA Legislative Director Dave Koffman provided updates on the current legislative session and the status of the fiscal 2027 state budget. Koffman also covered key legislation related to labor matters, including paid family and medical leave, pensions, physical examination records, and the right to strike.
The meeting concluded with a workshop on inclusive management, understanding the self, and modeling best practices led by MMA Chief Equity Officer Jillian Harvey.
Harvey provided a foundational overview of terminology regarding inclusion and belonging before guiding attendees through a social identity exercise. The session continued with a discussion on implementing inclusive practices within the workplace.
To end the workshop, participants applied these principles to a practical scenario, developing plans for cultural observances and holidays initiative for staff.
