The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is offering a monthly Floodplain Basics “Lunch and Learn” training series that provides practical guidance, insights, and Q&A sessions for communities facing flooding challenges.
Sessions are held on the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will continue through December. Topics include interpreting flood maps and insurance studies, development permitting, and flood resistant construction.
DCR is also offering intermediate courses for experienced officials. Certified floodplain managers and Massachusetts certified building officials are eligible to receive continuing education credits for these sessions.
Participants must register for sessions in advance.
The full course calendar and details, with links to registration, is available online.
