Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Listserv Users and Goals:
As stated in the MMHR bylaws, access to the Listserv and accompanying MMHR Listserv Folder on Google Drive is a benefit reserved for our primary municipal members and other governmental unit members. Our goals for this resource include:
• Facilitating information among MMHR members;
• Building a network among members; and
• Developing a library of information for members to access.
Business partners, students, and honorary members are not permitted access. Members in transition may be allowed to continue their access for a limited period on a case-by-case basis.
Listserv Protocols:
As a member of the Listserv, members agree to the following:
• Place the Listserv email address in the bcc line to automatically prevent reply-alls.
Replying All should be reserved only for information that will benefit the entire Listserv. If you intend to ask a member for information, send the request to that member only—do not reply all.
• Questions posted to the Listserv must relate to the field of Human Resources. Questions that relate to other municipal functions (procurement, sidewalks, building demolition, asbestos removal, public utilities, etc.) should be posted on a different Listserv. Please contact the MMA for information on listservs that relate to other member groups or topics.
• MMHR is a non-partisan organization that respects the political views of all its members. The Listserv may not be used for political discussions, specifically the promotion of candidates.
• The Listserv should not be used to advertise positions. Municipal job advertisements may be posted on the MMA website here.
• Members cannot share illegal content through the Listserv (e.g. copyrighted materials, software, etc).
• Members should avoid controversial postings. Personal attacks and negative/inappropriate comments directed at individual(s) will not be tolerated. MMHR reserves the right to discontinue Listserv access if comments are determined offensive.
• All Listserv users have access to the shared MMHR Listserv Folder, a Google Drive folder where they can find a library of resources on municipal HR topics. Listserv users are free to browse the library and add to it as needed.
If you pose a question to the Listserv and receive resource links or attachments in response, you are responsible for adding the resources to the MMHR Listserv Folder and organizing them.
Managing Your Listserv:
Members are encouraged to create a separate inbox or filter for the emails that come from the Listserv. This will allow you to check the Listserv when you have time, and prevent your email from being inundated by messages.
Questions:
Questions regarding the Listserv should be forwarded to Martin Davis, MMA Member Program Coordinator, at [email protected] or 617-426-7272 x104.
Thank you for your assistance in making the MMHR Listserv an effective and efficient way to disseminate information to Human Resources professionals across the state.
MMHR Board voted and approved this protocol on March 5, 2014.
Amended June 2024.
