BRIC is an annual Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and administered in Massachusetts through a partnership with MEMA. BRIC makes federal funds available to states, U.S. territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local governments for hazard mitigation activities, which have become increasingly important given the rise in extreme weather events caused by climate change.

The Flood Mitigation Assistance program supports cost-effective measures to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damage to buildings, manufactured homes, and other structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program.

The deadline for BRIC applications is June 8, and the deadline for Flood Mitigation Assistance applications is July 7.

Eligible subapplicants include state agencies, local governments, and federally-recognized Native American tribal governments.

Additional information, including application details, is available on the state’s BRIC and FMA webpage.
