The State Ethics Commission conducts bimonthly seminars on the conflict-of-interest law, providing an opportunity for municipalities and municipal agencies to have new hires and employees who were not able to attend earlier sessions to receive training on the restrictions imposed under state law (Ch. 268A).
Seminars are typically held on the fourth Thursday of every other month at 10 a.m. at the commission office, unless otherwise indicated. Upcoming dates in 2018 are Jan. 25, March 22, May 31, July 26, Sept. 27 and Nov. 29.
The Ethics Commission is located in the McCormack State Office Building at 1 Ashburton Place, room 619, in Boston. Space is limited. To register, call (617) 371-9500.
The Ethics Commission also offers the opportunity to participate in a seminar via webinar. And municipalities and municipal agencies that have not hosted a seminar in a while may want to consider scheduling one at their offices. To do so, contact David Giannotti at (617) 371-9505 or David.Giannotti@state.ma.us.
The Ethics Reform Act of 2009 mandates that public employees complete an online training program related to the conflict-of-interest law every other year.
