The free meeting is targeted to newly elected officials, but all city and town councillors are invited.

This panel of veteran councillors will address various aspects of the “job” of councillor, covering topics including constituent relations and services, open meeting law, and working with fellow councillors, committees and department heads and other staff. There will be ample time for questions.

State finance and municipal budgeting can be an overwhelming topic. Cronin will discuss the outstanding job his team at the Division of Local Services does to make municipal finance easier to understand and to provide tools and resources to help you do your job more effectively in your first year.

Council Rules and Procedures
Michael Ossing, Marlborough City Council President
Every council is governed by its own “Council Rules.” Some communities include a
Code of Conduct for their elected officials, which often extends to appointed officials,
staff and members of the public when engaging with officials. This session will review
Council Rules and the Codes of Conduct, and how they apply to you as a city or town
Councillor.
