The MMA will host a webinar with local regional planning commissions on July 23 to discuss how they partner with municipalities to plan and design safe streets.
Reducing traffic fatalities and severe injuries requires a unified approach that bridges regional strategy with local implementation. While individual municipalities face unique local challenges, metropolitan planning organizations can serve as capacity builders by providing the data, technical expertise, and funding necessary to transform safe streets concepts into reality.
In the webinar, representatives from regional planning agencies across the state will discuss how they are actively partnering with cities and towns to scale Vision Zero principles, navigate the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) pipeline, and design safer, more equitable transportation networks for all road users.
Speakers will include:
• Ali Kleyman, Vision Zero program manager, Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization
• Colleen Medeiros, transportation program manager, Cape Cod Commission
• Robert Raymond, transportation data services director, Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission
Online registration is available for the 75-minute webinar, which will begin at noon. Only MMA members may register. MMA members include elected officials and municipal employees from MMA member communities across the state. Media members are not permitted to attend.
