Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Drawing from their real-world leadership journeys, a panel will discuss navigating and thriving in leadership to kick off a Women Leading Government meeting on Nov. 5 in Wrentham.
The panel will explore actionable strategies for navigating systemic challenges, cultivating resilience, and advocating for organizational change.
The panelists will be:
• Worcester Red Sox General Manager Brooke Cooper
• Labor and Workforce Development Secretary Lauren Jones
• Department of Conservation and Recreation Deputy Commissioner Kendra Amaral
Cooper, the first female GM in the Red Sox organization, will share her story of advancement within the organization while building a family.
Secretary Jones had worked in state and local government, as well as the private sector, before joining the governor’s cabinet in 2023.
Amaral is a former town manager who served in both Massachusetts and Maine before stepping into a leadership role at DCR.
Meeting attendees will also collaborate in small group discussions to examine the challenges they encounter and to formulate practical solutions.
The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon, followed by brunch. The registration fee is $25 per person.
Women Leading Government events are open to all staff in appointed positions in local government.
The meeting will be held at Lake Pearl in Wrentham. The cost is $25, including lunch.
