The town of Falmouth seeks a highly motivated administrative professional to be our full-time Administrative Clerk for our busy Town Accountant’s Office. The successful candidate has experience in a professional office setting, meticulous attention to detail, strong mathematical and analytical skills, and excellent customer service skills. This is a full-time, benefited position that works on-site 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Under the direction of the Town Accountant and Assistant Town Accountant, the Administrative Clerk receives, examines, and audits all accounts payable paperwork. This position enters information into the accounts payable software, assigns vendor numbers, maintains vendor records, verifies all details of all accounts payable-related entries, and balances the invoice proofs to the invoice warrant.

Other duties include, but are not limited to: providing backup coverage for Town payroll processing; carefully monitoring grant-funded budgets and other departmental budgetary items for the Town and School Department; collecting and maintaining data for the Fixed Assets yearly audit; and assisting and providing general information to both internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience with bookkeeping and/or accounts payable/receivable processing; or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Municipal experience preferred.

The successful candidate has strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills and has the ability to resolve potential discrepancies tactfully and appropriately. The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and is also a collaborative member of the Accounting Office and the larger Finance team.

Expected Starting Range: Step 1 ($26.55/hour) – Step 3 ($28.71/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to grow along the seven-step pay scale.
