The Assistant Finance Director/Town Accountant is a professional, administrative, and supervisory position responsible for supporting the financial operations of the town and ensuring compliance with applicable Massachusetts General Laws, Uniform Municipal Accounting Standards, and town policies. This position assists the Finance Director in the daily operation of the Finance Department and serves as the Town Accountant, with full responsibility for maintaining the town’s financial records, processing payroll and expense warrants, and preparing state and federal financial reports.
Salary: $109,816 – $155,167
Benefits: The town contributes 80% of HMO health insurance premiums and 65% for PPO health insurance premiums.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, including at least three years in Massachusetts municipal accounting or government finance. Supervisory experience preferred.
Special Requirements: Massachusetts Certified Governmental Accountant designation required, or ability to obtain within three years of hire. Certified Public Accountant designation desirable. HIPAA certification required within six months of hire. Proficiency in MUNIS or comparable municipal accounting software preferred.
