The town of Acushnet is seeking a Building Inspector/Zoning Enforcement Agent to perform technical and inspection work and all other related work as required. This is a United Steelworkers Local 9517 union position. Candidates must have thorough knowledge related to enforcement, interpretation, and compliance with the Mass. State Building Code, local zoning ordinance, and other applicable regulations. Duties include but not limited to: performing investigations and acting on alleged violations; issuing notices and orders to rectify illegal or unsafe conditions and follow-ups; receiving and reviewing plans for building construction or alternations in order to determine compliance; keeping records of all inspections and approved plans; and staffing the Zoning Board of Appeals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and plans; and prepare necessary diagrams is also required. Possession of a Mass. Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License required. Candidates must possess certification as a local inspector and acquire Inspector of Buildings certification within 18 months. Possession of a Building Commissioner/Inspector of Buildings certification preferred. Salary commensurate with Experience and Qualifications (DOQE)
