Job Description

The city of Cambridge seeks a Building Performance Compliance Officer to manage reporting and enforcement under local building energy ordinances. Responsibilities include using data tools to monitor compliance with reporting and emissions reduction requirements. The officer will communicate directly with property owners and managers to support compliance and prepare materials for BEUDO Review Board applications, including hardship requests. Duties include sending compliance letters, issuing fines, and implementing an annual enforcement plan. This role oversees a technical help desk primarily operated by consultants and collaborates with Office of Sustainability staff to manage consultant-led system maintenance, data management, and communications platform development. Additional responsibilities include managing consultant contracts, analyzing building energy and greenhouse gas emissions data, and presenting findings to stakeholders. The officer will coordinate with city departments to visualize and report data, contribute to broader climate initiatives, maintain online resources, and support outreach to property owners and managers. Tracking program outcomes and coordinating with utility partners, peer jurisdictions, and other stakeholders is also essential.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, or a master’s degree with two years of experience, or an associate degree with six years of related experience.

Rate: $71,2341 – $100,582 per year
