Deputy Town Administrator/Finance Director
The town of Natick is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Town Administrator/Finance Director. This is a highly visible and critical leadership position that provides strategic management and administrative support to the community, working under the direction of the Town Administrator, and in collaboration with the Deputy Town Administrator – Operations, the Select Board, and various boards and committees of the town.
This opportunity has become available due to the planned retirement of the current incumbent after over eight years of service to the community, and offers a chance for an experienced professional to help guide the financial and administrative direction of the great town of Natick!
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the operations of the Assessing, Comptroller (including payroll), Finance/Budgeting, and Treasurer/Collector offices, ensuring these offices operate efficiently and effectively.
Oversee development and coordination of Finance Department budgets, goals and objectives..
Manage the preparation of the Annual Budget, five-year forecast, financial planning for the Capital Improvement Program, and prepare supporting materials for the Select Board, Finance Committee and Town Meeting.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and manage municipal bonding and investment activities.
Interact regularly with and provide excellent leadership/customer service to the public, Town boards, senior municipal leadership, vendors, and state and local officials.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in public administration, finance, business, or political science preferred.
Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible public sector experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role – preferably within a local municipal setting.
Extensive knowledge of municipal finance, general government operations, and public sector best practices.
Strong collaborative and leadership skills, with a proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and municipal finance software such as MUNIS.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation:
This position is classified as Grade 6 of the town’s pay plan, with an anticipated hiring range of $155,000 to $185,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
