Job Description

The Sandwich Housing Authority (SHA) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and hands-on Director of Facilities & Maintenance to lead overall maintenance operations for the structures and grounds of the SHA, including 64 units of public housing in the town of Sandwich.

Considerable knowledge of building construction, maintenance, inventory control and ordering is required; trades license a plus. Must possess strong organizational, planning, and communication skills to engage with tenants, state and local officials, and contractors. Knowledge of MA public procurement and bidding practices preferred, but not required. Individual must be willing to attain the MACPPO designation within one year of hire, hold a valid driver’s license and be computer literate.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this is a leadership role that combines strategic planning, creative thinking, and operational oversight. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety, cleanliness, compliance, and overall functionality of SHA’s buildings and grounds and establishing a responsive and pro-active maintenance culture that aligns with local, state and federal housing standards and regulations.

This is a 37.5-hour week position with benefits, including health, vision, dental, and paid time off. The position is overtime eligible and part of the Barnstable County Retirement system. Starting compensation of $65,000, negotiable with experience.
