The town of Ware is seeking applicants for the position of Operations Manager for the Sewer Department. This position reports directly to the Town Manager. Duties focus on the Town’s wastewater treatment plant and sewer distribution and collection system by ensuring that plant performance and the quality of wastewater meet federal and state regulations; supervises the plant operations and maintenance functions in accordance with regulatory requirements. Similar or related duties as required by the Town Manager.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering or related field; seven years of progressively responsible experience in public works management and administration, of which at least three years are in a management position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; MA Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s License Grade 5. Must have and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include Massachusetts certification as a Public Purchasing Officer; familiar with MUNIS financial software; and MADEP and EPA sewer reporting requirements.
