Town Accountant, 4-day week w/ full benefits
Salary range = $71,822 and $87,422 commensurate with experience. Employment contract (one to three years, negotiable). FLSA exempt, non-union. Supervises one part-time employee.
PURPOSE OF ROLE: Conducts complex advisory, administrative, and technical work to ensure the proper creation, recording, monitoring, auditing, and retention of financial statements, vendor contracts, and accounting records while collaborating with the Town Administrator, Treasurer & Collector’s Office, and Finance Committee to present sound financial recommendations to the Selectboard.
Essential Duties: Leads the Accounting department; creates/prepares, reconciles, audits, maintains, and disseminates financial reports, sheets, statements, contracts, and warrants while exercising budgetary control over town funds and adhering to MGL, GASB, UMAS, GAAP, town charter, by-laws, and policies/procedures in regard to revenue, expenditures, payroll, audits, budgeting, and appropriations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, management, or business with a minimum of three years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Municipal government accounting experience preferred but not required.
Special Requirements: Must obtain/renew CGA (Certified Governmental Accountant) and MCPPO (MA Certified Public Purchasing Officer) designations within one year of hire.
