The city of Melrose seeks dedicated and knowledgeable Veterans’ Services Agent to support local veterans and their families. Operating as a one-person department and reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role handles benefits counseling, financial assistance, case management, and coordination of memorial events and services.

The ideal candidate is an honorably discharged veteran with strong administrative, interpersonal, advocacy skills, knowledge of veterans’ benefits and a valid driver’s license. Certification in MGL Chapter 115 (or willingness to obtain) and Massachusetts Veterans Service Officer Association membership are required. A bachelor’s degree and five-plus years of relevant experience are required; social work background preferred.

Salary: $72,800–$77,259 (35 hrs/week) with full benefits.
