The city of Cambridge is seeking a Wiring Inspector who will inspect electrical wiring and fixture installations for compliance with the safety requirements of the Massachusetts Electrical Code. Inspect electrical wiring installations for transmission of electrical current for light, heat and power in any building in order to ascertain conformance with safety laws and regulations and give final approval of such installations prior to the turning on of the current, investigate complaints from landlords, tenants, and Fire Prevention Bureau and others and issue orders for the correction of defects or violations. Gather evidence for the prosecution of violators and give testimony in court cases, consult with superiors on the more difficult or unusual cases; and prepare related reports. Must have at least three years within the last five years of full time, paid experience in electrical work as a licensed journeyman or master electrician. “A” or “B” Massachusetts Master or Journeyman Electrician’s license, issued by the State Board of Examiners of Electricians. Working knowledge in personal computer operation and experience in working with Windows programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word. Applicants must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and have access to a personal motor vehicle.
Rate: $41.53 – $49.58 hourly
