More than 130 cities and towns will share funding from MassGIS to enhance standardized assessor mapping, which is intended to benefit local and regional planning.

The focus of the enhancements is assessor map content missing from the standardized mapping and other obstacles to maintaining standardized assessor mapping.

The funding will go directly to eight vendors, four of which are regional planning agencies: the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission; the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission; the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments; and the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission. The private sector vendors are Applied Geographics; Camp, Dresser & McKee; Cartographic Associates; and Tighe and Bond.

The grants for work in individual communities range from $900 to $23,000.
